TV Studio on vMix

Software‑based TV studio built on vMix with NDI PTZ cameras (Sony or AVMatrix), centralized camera control and Manfrotto tripods, delivering a compact, modern live production setup.

Why This Solution

In the vMix‑based TV studio, the camera package can be configured in two ways: using Sony SRG‑A series PTZ cameras or AVMatrix Eagle series PTZ cameras. Both options are designed for IP‑centric workflows, with the cameras feeding vMix over NDI, which eliminates the need for additional hardware converters and allows video, audio and control to travel over the same network.

When Sony cameras are chosen, control is handled by the Sony RM‑IP500 remote controller. This unit can control up to 100 Sony BRC/SRG/ILME‑FR7 PTZ cameras over IP, features a high‑quality joystick for smooth pan/tilt/zoom and supports a large number of presets and trace‑memory for replaying complex camera moves. For news and talk‑show formats this is a big advantage: camera positions are recalled instantly, and moves remain consistent from show to show.

With AVMatrix Eagle cameras, control is provided by AVMatrix’s own PTZ controller and protocols. Eagle cameras offer 4K or FHD output, NDI|HX3 with very low latency, 12–30x optical zoom and support for multiple control standards, making them a strong choice where NDI integration and price‑to‑performance are key considerations
.

In both cases, cameras are connected to the vMix system via NDI, so the studio is easy to scale: additional cameras can be added to the same network without building a separate SDI router and cabling infrastructure. This reduces complexity and cost while keeping the system flexible and future‑proof.

For physical support, the cameras are mounted on Manfrotto video tripods and stands. Manfrotto is widely used in professional video because of its stability, durable build and smooth fluid heads, which help maintain steady, professional‑looking shots and a clean, organised setup.

Overall, the vMix studio can be built around either the Sony ecosystem with RM‑IP500 or the AVMatrix Eagle ecosystem with its own controller, but in both cases the core advantages stay the same: an NDI‑based workflow, centralized PTZ control and a stable, professional image supported by Manfrotto tripods.
